Job Title: Family Resource Worker – EarlyON

Status: Casual relief – On-call

Hours: As required – Daytime availability required

Salary: $24.80/hour plus 4% vacation pay

Position Summary
The Family Resource Worker – Casual Relief is responsible for delivering programs and services that support the needs of parents’/ care providers and children birth to 6 years in the communities of Kanata, West Carleton and Stittsville.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver playgroups and activities for children:
Promoting child development and encouraging parent/ care provider-child interaction;
Using the recreational resources available in the community;
Delivering, on an on call basis, programs and services including playgroups and activities;
Using modeling for the parent/ care provider in the relation with the child.
Assist parent/care providers to increase their awareness of child development:
Providing information and referral to parent/care providers;
Providing education services for parent/care providers through workshops and other training opportunities;
Supporting parent/care providers in identifying their needs;
Assisting parent/care providers to identify their strengths and limitations to help improve their child’s and their own quality of life;
Linking and referring care providers to other programs offered by WOCRC and other community organizations.
Develop and maintain the EYC program:
Deliver, on an on call basis, early learning programs and services throughout our communities, including rural, in local schools and in the EarlyON CFC;
Providing support and training to volunteers as required;
Creating a sense of program ownership and engagement with parent/care providers as well as with partnering organizations;
Deliver programs and services that are aligned with community needs, trends and gaps based on client feedback and data such as Child Status Index, Early Development Instrument and Census data as well as in consultation with partnering organizations.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Education and Experience:
Post-secondary diploma in early childhood education, child and youth worker or equivalent in training;
Two years’ pertinent experience in an early learning environment; working with children, parent and care providers;
Registration and/or eligibility for registration in the College of Early Childhood Educators an asset;
Experience working in partnership with other early years providers in a service integration model/framework;
First Aid / CPR training.
Competencies:
Strong critical analysis, problem solving, planning and decision making skills;
Excellent relationship building skills;
Demonstrated ability to work independently in remote locations;
Demonstrated conflict management and resolution skills;
Ability to develop and implement programs using an inter-disciplinary collaborative approach;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary team environment;
Demonstrated ability to work within an equity inclusion framework;
Knowledge of social services delivery in Ottawa.
